Meet
Ms. Kollbeck
Assistant Principal
Dear P.S.28Q Community,
It is with great joy, pride, and deep gratitude that I welcome you all to the start of a brand-new school year! As I enter my fifth year as the Assistant Principal of P.S.28Q, I am filled with excitement and a renewed sense of purpose to continue serving this extraordinary community of students, families, educators, and staff.
I am honored to once again partner with Mr. Quintana and our dedicated team to support and uplift every member of the P.S.28 family. This school has played a transformative role in my professional journey, and it continues to be a place that inspires growth, connection, and meaningful change—for students and adults alike. It is truly a privilege to be part of a community where learning is celebrated, relationships are nurtured, and every child’s voice is valued.
Before stepping into the role of Assistant Principal, I proudly served as a Bilingual Special Education Teacher and Special Education Liaison at P.S.28 for 10 years. These experiences, along with my previous work in the field of education—spanning over two decades—have shaped my passion for inclusive education, culturally responsive practices, and the importance of knowing and honoring the whole child. Whether I was teaching students with severe disabilities at Birch Family Services or nurturing our youngest learners as a UPK teacher at the Jack and Jill School, each step has brought me closer to the leader I strive to be today.
As a long-time resident of Flushing, Queens, a proud Latina, and a mother of two wonderful children, I carry with me a deep commitment to our school’s values and mission. I believe in the power of education to change lives, and I am dedicated to ensuring every student has access to high-quality, equitable learning opportunities in a safe and nurturing environment.
This year, I remain steadfast in my commitment to:
-
Strengthening the home-school connection
-
Collaborating closely with our amazing educators and support staff
-
Supporting every student’s academic, emotional, and social development
-
Creating a school culture that reflects the dreams and potential of all children
At P.S.28, we believe in big dreams for little people—and it is an honor to help make those dreams a reality. As we embark on this new school year together, I encourage open communication, shared ideas, and a continued partnership. Please don’t hesitate to reach out with questions, feedback, or simply to say hello.
Here's to a joyful, safe, and successful school year. Let’s make it our best one yet!
With gratitude and excitement,
Ms. Kollbeck
