Meet
Ms. Kollbeck

Assistant Principal

Dear P.S.28Q Community,

It is with great enthusiasm and excitement that I introduce myself as the Assistant Principal of P.S.28Q.  I am incredibly grateful and honored to continue in this role. I look forward to continuing my partnership with Mr. Quintana and the staff so that together we can do our very best to support this amazing school community. Working at P.S. 28 has been such a remarkable experience which has made a tremendous impact on my professional and personal growth. I am excited to continue my journey of learning and growth as the Assistant Principal of P.S.28.

Prior to becoming the Assistant Principal of P.S.28, I had the privilege to serve the community as a Bilingual Special education teacher and Special Education Liaison. My 10 years at P.S. 28 have played a monumental role in making me a better teacher, parent, community member, and future leader. Before joining the P.S.28 family, I had the experience of working in the education field for 11 years. My experiences included six years as a Special Education Teacher at Birch Family Services where I specialized in educating students with severe disabilities and 5 years as a UPK Teacher at the Jack and Jill School. Each role uniquely shaped my philosophies and pedagogy; specifically in understanding the values of educating and knowing the whole child. I am most proud of the relationships that I have formed with students and families over the years. I am a firm believer in the power of a strong home and school connection. As I shared before, I am the proud mother of two lovely children and grew up in Flushing, Queens for over 30 years. I strongly believe that through my passion, dedication, Queens Pride, and Latina descent that I will truly be able to serve the P.S28 Community.

My decision to become an administrator came from my love of children and strong desire to make a positive impact on an entire school community. As the Assistant Principal, I will work diligently with Mr. Quintana, our faculty and staff, and the community to carry out the vision and mission of P.S.28. I am happy to have the capacity in this role to continue working collaboratively with teachers on a daily basis, while also remaining connected to our student's growth and learning that takes place in the classroom. I am committed to continuous professional growth and ensuring educational equity and access for all of our students.  It is my sincere goal and commitment to continue building strong relationships with students, teachers, parents, and community members so that we can work collaboratively to ensure that we are establishing a safe and nurturing environment where each child can achieve their fullest potential and be adequately prepared for the future. P.S.28 is a very special place; it is the home to where little people have big dreams. I am honored at the opportunity to be a direct part in helping to make dreams come true.

Please do not hesitate to reach out to me if you have any questions, suggestions, or feedback. I look forward to us all continuing a wonderful, safe, happy, and fun school year.
