Hello, amazing students, parents, teachers, and incredible staff!

                                                 We're back!!!!!!

I hope that you are all as excited as me!!!! I can't wait to see all your smiling faces.😄 Always remember, at P.S. 28Q, you are not just part of a school; you’re part of a family that is here to support and uplift each other. Together, we are going to make this school year unforgettable!!

Parents, please help us get the year started on a positive note by ensuring your students are at school on time each day.

The first day of school for students is Thursday, September 7th.  The school day for each student is from 8:00am to 2:20pm.  We will continue to offer our after-school program (Maspeth Town Hall) every day after school.  Please check our website for information on how to register.

As you can see, construction has begun in our school-yard.  We are very excited to begin this, however I ask for your patience and flexibility during arrivals and dismissals so that our students are safe.  Please allow extra time to arrive and pick up your child.  Please be mindful of crowds and the blocking of driveways.  Both arrival and dismissal for this Thursday and Friday (Sept. 7th and 8th) will take place on 48th Ave.  Students will be dropped off at the gate and then will line up with their teacher to enter the building.  Carts will be outside to hold any bags that families may have and they will be brought to the classrooms after arrival.  Please make sure to include your child’s name and class on their bag.  Dismissal will be staggered.  Kindergarten students will be arriving to the yard for dismissal at 2:05, 1st grade students will arrive at 2:10 and 2nd grade students will arrive at 2:15.  Please arrive on time, as space is limited due to the construction.  Through-out the year, we may lose use of the yard and will have to revise the arrivals and dismissal once again.  I will be hosting an informational meeting for families to answer any questions that you may have regarding the construction, arrival and/or dismissal. Please check our website for the date and time.

I would also like to inform you that we have a new Parent Coordinator joining us.  Please join me in welcoming Ms. Bethania Garcia as our new Parent Coordinator. We are excited to have Ms. Garcia join the PS 28 family in her new role and wish Ms. Velasquez all the best in her new position!!

I would like to share some important dates with you:

  • September 7th –First day of school for students.

  • September 25th-Schools are closed in observation of the Yom Kippur Holiday.

  • November 2nd-Parent Teacher Conferences (remote only/half day for students)

  • March 7th -2nd Parent Teacher Conference (remote only/half days for students)

This year we have many wonderful activities planned for your children.  Additionally, we are proud to announce that we have expanded our bi-lingual programs for 3 classes to 6.  We have also maintained strong relationships with local schools, businesses, community leaders and our friends from the 110pct.  Through-out the year we anticipate hosting NYPD Build A Block meetings.  I encourage our families to attend and let your voices be heard directly.

     Again, welcome back!!!!

I look forward to seeing our returning students and getting to know our new students and families!!!!!!
