Art

Artists at P.S. 28 use a variety of mediums including acrylic and tempera paint, watercolors, oil pastels, markers, and crayons, to create unique pieces of artwork. Students learn how to observe, create from their imagination, and explore color, texture, and use of space.

This year, students are working on a variety of fun projects in art class. Second grade artists have been learning about and creating  “POP Art” in the style of Andy Warhol. First grade artists are learning about the French artist, George Seurat, and creating their own Seurat inspired butterflies, fruit bowls, cupcakes, and more, using only dots to add color. Kindergarten artists just finished an under the sea project, using a watercolor wash to add texture to their underwater drawings. We just began learning about Japanese artwork, and creating Japanese porcelain vases, which we will fill with painted cherry blossoms.

In addition to these projects, in art and science we have been creating some awesome steam projects for earth day with our first and second grade students.
