Meet our New Superintendent

Anthony Rivera

Dear District 24 Community,

I am honored and excited to introduce myself as the interim acting Superintendent of District 24. I recognize this is a mid-year transition, and I appreciate your support as we work together to ensure our students continue thriving.

I come to you as a proud product of New York City’s public school system, born and raised in the Bronx. My journey was not always a straightforward one, and my family faced many of the challenges that our students encounter today. During those formative years, school was a sanctuary that transformed into an open door to life beyond our circumstances. That door ultimately led me to where I am today. On a personal note, I am the father of three amazing children—the most rewarding job I have ever had—and the husband of an incredible and supportive wife who also serves as a NYC elementary school principal. I am the son of a retired bilingual schoolteacher and the brother of a school counselor. Education runs deep in my family, and I could not be prouder of the collective impact we strive to make.

At my core is the belief that all children possess incredible potential. With the right opportunities and support, I know every child can achieve at high levels; after all, I was one of them. I bring this conviction into my work each day, and I am deeply committed to ensuring all students in District 24 have the tools, encouragement, and conditions they need to thrive.

In the coming weeks, I will be embarking on a listening tour across our district. I look forward to visiting your schools, meeting your leadership teams, speaking with students, engaging with parents, and hearing from community leaders and elected officials. My goal is to gain a comprehensive understanding of District 24’s strengths, challenges, and opportunities so we can chart a collective path forward. I am excited to learn from all of you, build upon the strong foundations already in place, and collaborate on ways to make our district even stronger. Together, we will ensure every child in District 24 has the highest quality experience in our schools.
